E-GENI

From OpenFlow Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Enterprise-GENI is composed of three main entities:

  • OpenFlow-based Substrate: The switches that communicate using the OpenFlow protocol to a controller application
  • FlowVisor: A custom-build OpenFlow controller that isolates control traffic of individual experiments.
  • Aggregate Manager: The application which mediates between the Clearinghouse and the E-GENI FlowVisor, over a SOAP-based SFA protocol.

Architecture

Following figure illustrates the important entities and the communication between them.

Interfaces

E-GENI can be accessed through two different interfaces:

  • OpenFlow protocol between the experiment's controller and the E-GENI FlowVisor,
  • SOAP-based SFA interface between ClearingHouse and the E-GENI Aggregate Manager.
