This page explains how to setup OpenFlow AP and/or switch using Soekris platform.

Hardware

The Soekris platform is used due to the ability to have 8 Ethernet ports and a WiFi mini-PCI card installed. A harddisk can also be installed via USB or IDE. This makes it a useful platform for small testbeds.

The exact hardware we have used are

  1. Net5501-60 board and enclosure with 1 PCI slot
  2. IEC320-C14 AC-DC convertor
  3. lan1641 to make add another 4 Ethernet ports (optional)

Setup and Installation

The setup and configuration of the box is very similar to PC Engine box. So, this page will discuss only the points specific to the Soekris box.

Baud Rate

The default baud rate of the Sokeris Net5501 is 19200, while the PC Engine has baud rate of 38400. If you use both platforms, it make sense to change to a standard one. Here we change the Sokeris to baud rate of 38400.

With minicom at baud rate of 19200, boot the Soekris box. Enter

Ctrl-P

to enter comBios. At comBios prompt,

set ConLock=Disabled
set ConSpeed=38400
reboot
